PAUSE FEST - CHANGES

Changes is a Motion Response Original for Pause fest 2021.

Based on this year's theme CHANGE, I created a visual exploration of existence, transformation, decay and rebirth.

Unforeseen and abrupt changes (wether indirectly caused by humans, or nature itself) can be very difficult for our outlook on life

and can set us back for quite a while. But as change is inevitable and the only constant that exists in life, we have to change

ourselves; we have to learn, adapt and alter our consciousness in order to progress. In this way, we can regard our setbacks as

building blocks for new beginnings.

Except for a few trees and plants, everything was made from scratch.

To me, the Stag-beetle (Lucanus Cervus) is a really beautiful and special insect. Because of the antlers it almost feels like evolution created a surreal hybrid-animal. Besides, it's an endangered species in many countries. Therefore I decided to use this beetle as the main subject for this animation. Everything was modelled, unwrapped, textured, rigged and animated from scratch.
